Who Is The Block Doc?

Dr. Michael Troy Shell grew up in rural Adams County Pennsylvania.

 

 He holds degrees in Bible and Biblical Languages, Theology,  Archaeology, Women’s Studies, and PhD in Philosophy of Higher Education.

 

He teaching at Jefferson Community and Technical College in Louisville, Kentucky.  Dr. Shell has taught courses in philosophy, ethics, logic, and religion. He is also a past recipient of the Adjunct Faculty of the Year at Jefferson College. He is active in  Phi Theta Kappa (The Honor Society for Community Colleges).

 

Dr. Shell prides himself of being a renaissance man, a list of his accomplishment and interests include;

 

  • A Summer spent at Walden Pond studying  works of Thoreau
  • Participating in archaeological excavation in Israel with the Harvard University
  • Authoring a chapter in the book, Shakespeare and Philosophy
  • Pastoring a Church for over 25 years
  • Dr. Shell proudly identifies himself as an  AFOL (Adult Fan Of Lego). 
    • He is a trained facilitator  in the LEGO Serious Play Method.
    • Leads LEGO camps and team building retreats
    • He has even written at book for his ethics couse in which all the  illustrations are his own original LEGO builds!

 

Dr. Shell lives in Louisville with his wife of 30 years, Valerie.  Has three children: two daughters who are are teachers and a son who is in the Army.  When not teaching, reading, or preaching . .  Dr. Shell can be found in his “LEGO Lab” building and pondering the Meaning of Life Thought LEGO!
